BROOK TROUT. John Waldo Nash, Norway, Maine Taxidermist; late 19th, early 20th century. Known for his patent "Trout Mezzo" technique of mounting fish. The colorful trout mounted on a convex maple board signed beneath "Nash of Maine Pat'd April 21 1903". The Mezzo Technique is the application of the original skin of the fish including the complete skull which is then attached to the pre-shaped board, painted then varnished. A glass eye is applied to the cavity in the head. SIZE: 12" x 24". CONDITION: very good with strong colors and fully restored in 1988 by reknown Maine taxidermist David Footer. (05-88/TG). $1,000-1,500.
