Overall length: 14”. Blade length: 8”. The 2 1/4" wide blade has a pronounced medial ridge & is stamped near the hilt, “I & H”. The “&” is stamped backwards & the border of the rectangular cartouche is serrated. Grip is 2 piece bone that appears to be secured by 4 copper rivets. The grip area is wrapped in what appears to be heavily worn sinew or rawhide. There is a brass or copper ring at the top of the knife. CONDITION: blade appears to have been cleaned & kindly sharpened many times. Bone handle is exceptionally well worn & it is possible that a crack in the handle may lie under the ancient sinew or rawhide wrap. The copper rivets & top ring have an extremely dark patina, particularly where they are protected from wear. No scabbard. (02-13572/BF). $900-1,300.
