A large visually impactful steatite/soapstone carving likely of Northwest Native American origin. This totem depicts, in descending order, an eagle, a seated man, a backwards seated elderly woman, a frog, a masked seated human and a wolf. The carving measures 9" x 5" at its tallest point. The effigies are quite artistically and fancifully rendered and the carving in its entirety is impressive to behold. CONDITION: generally the totem shows light wear overall. It appears that the eagles head was broken at the neck and reattached skillfully. (02-17617/BF). NON-GUN. $800-1,300.
