Overall length: 33 1/2". Blade length: 27 3/4”. This sword is quite likely remanufactured from a French cavalry saber & is possibly of Mexican origin. Plain flat blade narrows slightly toward the hilt. Brass 3 branch hilt w/ thumb rest on top of grip. Brass wire wrapped, painted, cotton canvas grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray cleaned finish w/ scattered areas of oxidation particularly near the tip. Guard is broken where the outer branch meets the knuckle bow & appears to have a partial break midway up the knuckle bow. Grip wrap has about 50% finish & is worn through at the top of the grip. Wire appears complete but was likely redone when sword was remanufactured. (02-14720/BF). $200-400.
