TRADE PISTOLS. Cal. 56. NSN. Bbl. 8”. Both of these fine trade pistols have brass barrels with naturalistic decoration on the top surrounding the word “LONDON”. There are 3 proofs on the left side of the barrels, and the barrel tangs are steel with engraved tulip designs. The locks have decorative engraving on the cock and to the rear of the cock. The lock plates are marked below the pans “W KETLAND & CO”. Brass trigger guards with star-like engraved designs at the bottom. Brass buttcaps, escutcheon plates, side plates, entry thimbles, and ramrod thimbles. Stocks have inspector’s marks behind the side plates. Wooden ramrods. CONDITION: barrels & other brass parts have a mellow mustard patina. The locks have a dark overall patina, and both locks hold both full & half cock. Both stocks show expected dents & dings, but have no major faults. One ramrod appears original, the other may be a replacement. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox.
