PERCUSSION RIFLE. Cal. 45. NSN. Nelson Lewis operated 1843-1888 out of Troy, NY marking percussion guns (American Gunsmiths by Sellers). Oct. 28.5" bbl. w/ 1" round diameter at muzzle for bullet starter. Bottom of barrel has 2 plain pipes & long pipe for hardwood ramrod. Back action hammer lock w/ top tang having hole for tang sight. German silver plated brass furniture includes finger curl triggerguard, side plate, crescent buttplate, spear tip finial toeplate & circular patch box. Walnut buttstock. CONDITION: dark brown patina on barrel with spots of corrosion throughout along with sm. marks. Lock & action metal has gray patina appearance. Silver has pleasing mild tarnish with light marks & fading on edges. Good wood finish. Strong rifling. Lock appears mechanically fine with replacement modern nipple. (01-28295/MD). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
