Cal. .303 British. NSN. Bbl. 25 1/8". Ladder rear sight graduated to 1700 yards. Ramp type front sight. This carbine has apparently seen considerable service in Eastern Asia. The basic action appears to be of Enfield Manufacture and has the expected "view marks" and "broad arrows", however the marking at the top rear of the receiver and on the steel ID disk in the buttstock indicates likely Nepalese service. Receiver is marked on right side with "crown VR" / "ENFIELD" / "1881" and "ICI". The balance of the metal parts contain the expected "view marks" and "broad arrows". The barrel which is rifled with conventional rifling in the Enfield style is marked "E" over chamber. Hard wood stock set with short hand guard extending only to the rear sight. Forend retained by 2 bands. Upper band has stacking swivel, bayonet lug and cleaning rod. Swivels are mounted in the lower band and at the toe of the buttstock. The buttstock has numerous round headed steel tacks on both sides. Steel trap buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear, staining, and handling marks. Notable missing chips around rear of action. Approximately 6" crack on right side of butt. Hand guard is cracked along right side. Metal, while cleaned, shows extensive wear with oxidation and moderate pitting throughout. Rear sight and cleaning rod have notable damage. Trigger pivot screw is partly missing. Worn, dark oxidized bore. (01-24637/RW). ANTIQUE. $200-400.
