A. PRATT OF CONCORD MASS. Cal. 63. NSN. Bbl. 36", oct., fitted w/ U-notch rear brass bead front sights is engraved "A. Pratt" on top flat in front of sight (Alvin Pratt is known to be from Watertown, Massachusetts until 1812, in Sutton Mass from 1813-21, & thereafter in Concord). Relatively new flintlock is fitted which has rebated tail w/ teat & rudimentary engraving. Walnut stock is pinned to bbl. & extends to muzzle. Stock features simple patchbox w/ rectangular cover & spear finial. Patch box is nicely engraved. Brass crescent butt w/ cover release button has 2" return w/ spear finial. Brass trigger guard has spur at grip. Ramrod mts. through 2 octagonal beaded pipes & matching thimble. CONDITION: fair to good as extensively restored. Bbl. is nearly all dark brown patina & has not been converted to percussion. Correct style newer lock is installed which fits fairly well. Stock has a number of repairs on left side in front of sideplate & along bbl. channel on both sides. Stock has been spliced from 1 1/2" behind thimble to muzzle w/ new wood.
