MAYNARD CONVERSION US MUSKET. Cal. 69. NSN. 1 of 2,000 Muskets converted by the Frankford Arsenal for the State of New Jersey to percussion utilizing the Maynard Priming system lock mfg. by Remington. This musket appears to resemble a Cadet musket with cut down stock & 32.5" rifled bbl. Bbl. tang & lock dated 1858. Walnut musket stock has rack numbers on right side buttstock, around peak & toe of buttplate. CONDITION: metal has gray patina appearance with deep marks & cleaned pitting. Wood has numerous large gouges with wood filler behind lock, large crack through side plate & broken off swivel on front barrel band. Dark bore with shallow rifling. (01-28954/MD).
