ENFIELD MARK II DA REVOLVER. Cal. 476 Enfield. S# 4998. During the Victorian Era, Australia was considered a Penal Colony. Right side of grip marked "N.S.W." for New South Wales. The back strap & left side of grip is stamped "GAOLS No. 14", appearing to be issued to Jail No. 14. Matching numbered 5 7/8" bbl. w/ half moon front sight. Blue finished top break revolver. Latch by hammer unlocks top strap, opening revolver extracts the shells from the 6 shot fluted cyl., then user closes action & opens side gate for loading. While the original cal. was 476 Enfield, could be modified to use 455 Webley cartridges. Revolver has lanyard ring at butt & is stamped w/ various British proofs, broad arrows & crown "V.R. / ENFIELD / 1882 / II". 1 Piece walnut grip. CONDITION: fair overall w/ fading finish, marks, sm. dents, oxidation, & pitting throughout. Good grip varnish. Good bore w/ pitting near muzzle. (01-21007/MD). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
