DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 450. S# 99679. Bbl. 2 1/2". R.I.C. (Royal Irish Constabulary) double action revolver mfg. by Webley and subsequently issued to the New South Wales police. The left side of the frame is marked "450" above "WEBLEY'S/ (CUFFED HANDS)/ M.P.", New South Wales police inventory # "2104" and "N.S.W. POLICE", with the S# marked on the right. The top strap is marked "P. WEBLEY & SON/ LONDON & BIRMINGHAM". Metal components exhibit a high polish blue finish, with some small parts being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece flat checkered wood wrap around grip and features a lanyard swivel and ring on the butt. German silver blade front sight with frame V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame (right side and left side beneath grip), cyl., bbl., as well as the grip. CONDITION: metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original high polish blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina and scattered areas with varying degrees of pitting. In-the-white parts show scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting scattered spots of light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grip shows some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-27836/MLW). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
