SIX SHOOTER SAA REVOLVER. Cal. 44/40. S# 102073. Bbl. 7 1/2" with Hartford address, with etched panel "FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" on left, and blade front sight. 6-shot fluted cyl. Black powder frame. Oval type ejector rod head. Aftermarket 2-piece pearl grips with carved steer head on right panel. 50% coverage of vine type foliate engraving with punch dot backgrounds. New York distributors commonly purchased Colt revolvers with "soft" finish and sent them to the same New York engraving houses that did the factory work. Frame, cyl., and grip straps have matching numbers. Bbl. is unnumbered. CONDITION: metal surfaces have a dull gray appearance showing evidence of aggressive cleaning with remaining spots of light pitting. Evidence of nickel finish remain only in protected areas.
