RAMROD-BAYONET TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. S# 530841. Bbl. 32 5/8". Pinned blade front sight with Buffington rear sight. Model 1884 dated low arch breechblock. Springfield marked lock. 2-band stock of nicely grained walnut with iron fittings having standard issue ramrod-bayonet. Left ear of stock has a lightly visible "SWP" cartouche with "1891" date. Top of comb has white highlighted marking "8/ NY/ 1602". Right side of stock has large unit marking "13 NY". CONDITION: bbl. is fading to an even brown patina. Action and lockplate have faded gray/brown appearance with general light pitting on the breechblock. Sanded and refinished stock have remaining dents and handling marks. Sound action. Bright bore shows spots of moderate pitting and retains lightly worn rifling. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (01-27133/DS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
