SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Para. S# 1713. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Royal Arsenal Erfurt in 1914 for the Imperial German military. The top of the bbl. extension is marked "1914" over the chamber, with Erfurt Arsenal acceptance proofs stamped on the right. Toggle is marked with a crown over "ERFURT". Frame, bbl., bbl. extension, and toggle train exhibit a rust blue finish, with some smaller components exhibiting either a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Early pattern adj. blade front sight, with adj. tangent rear sight, graduated 1-8. All numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever and bar, bbl., front sight, rear sight assembly, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the grips. Mag. does not match. MAGS: one 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting a couple of spots of light to mild wear and thinning, with scattered flecks of light surface oxidation present overall. Strawed components exhibit light wear, with scattered spots of age-related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting some very light pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing and a few scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-4038/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
