Cal. 7.65mm. S# 15509. Bbl. 5". Semi-automatic pistol produced by an unknown maker in China during China's Warlord era. While not especially prominent, this example exhibits design features found on other contemporary firearms of the period, most notably, the Mauser C96 pistol, which was quite common in China during the Warlord era. The left side of the frame and slide exhibit spurious Fabrique Nationale markings and Belgian proofs, with a spurious Mauser banner logo present on the right side of the slide. Metal components exhibit a nickel plated finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips, which feature wire, pearl, and (what appears to be) vegetable ivory inlays, which show case a dragon on either panel. Fixed blade front sight, with faux fixed tangent rear sight, graduated 11-20. Rear sight is un-notched and offers no sight picture. Matching numbers are present on the right side of the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: generic transparent hard case. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their nickel plated finish, exhibiting scattered small spots/areas of light bubbling and flaking that show through to dark oxidation. Bore exhibits consistent mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Hammer locks at 90 degrees, and must be slightly raised to cycle the action. Grips show some minor superficial handling marks, as well as some losses to the wire inlay on either panel, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Right grip exhibits a chip beneath the dragon's head. An attractive example of a likely handmade Chinese Warlord era pistol. (25-2410/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
