SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 1936. Bbl. 4 5/8". One of only approx. 5,000 Model 1906 M2 Luger pistols mfg. by DWM for the Royal Portuguese Army between 1908-1910. The receiver is stamped w/ a crown over an intertwined "M2" (for King Manuel II, the last reigning monarch of Portugal). Toggle is marked w/ the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Portuguese triangle w/in a circle inspection proofs are present on the frame, bbl., bbl. extension, as well as on the bottom of the wood magazine base. Major metal components exhibit a rust blue finish w/ some smaller components exhibiting a strawed or nitre blued finish. Frame is mounted w/ 2 piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, rear toggle link, as well as on the interior of the grip panels. Firing pin is unnumbered. MAGS: 1-8rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting some areas of mild wear & thinning having scattered spots of light to mild oxidation present overall. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear having worn areas exhibiting spots of darker age related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent mild pitting w/ strong rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing plus a few scattered nicks to the diamonds, but otherwise are very good overall. An extremely attractive example of a Portguese M2 Luger. (23-5606/MLW). $1,500-2,000.
