TARGET SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH CUSTOM CASE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 146745-S. Bbl. 6". 1 of the first 1,000 Third Series Woodsman Match Target semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Colt in 1955. These first 1,000 Match Target pistols were serialized in sequence with the 2nd Series, with Colt then skipping to S# 160001-S after this initial batch. This example is marked with Colt's 2-line mfg. and patent information on the left side of the bbl. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo above "MATCH TARGET", with the S# marked on the right. Left side of the slide is marked "COLT", followed by "AUTOMATIC/ CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE". Metal components exhibit a polished blue finish overall, with the top strap of frame and bbl. exhibiting a matte blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece aftermarket checkered wood grips, featuring a thumbrest on the left panel and a flare at the butt on the right panel. Ramped patridge blade front sight with dovetailed adj. square notch rear sight marked "TRIANGLE/ HEG" on the right side. MAGS: 1 10-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: custom wood case marked with the stylized "COLT" logo on the lid. Case features a foam interior and a 40-rd. wood cartridge block. Case contains an original manual, with a printed sheet detailing the variations of the Woodsman Match Target pistol. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear and scattered superficial handling marks, with the grip straps exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. Case shows some light exterior wear, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable.
