SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7x20mm Nambu. S# 674. Bbl. 3 1/4". Standard configuration Baby "Type B" Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Koishikawa arsenal between 1903-1929. The right side of the frame is marked with Kanji characters denoting the model designation, above the 3-digit S# "674", with the Koishiakawa arsenal insignia marked over the chamber. Major metal components exhibit a blue finish, with some small components, including the trigger, mag. release button, mainspring guide, sear bar retainer pin, sear bar, and extractor, exhibiting a straw finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed V-notch rear sight. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, mag. release button, recoil spring guide rod, bbl./bbl. extension, bolt, locking block, cocking knob, striker spring guide, as well as the grips. Locking block appears to be a factory error, with the originally applied number "664" being partially overstamped to "674". Mag. is numbered "865". MAGS: one 7-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some concentrated areas of wear that show through to gray patina and scattered spots of pitting (primarily on the frame and bbl.), with mild to moderate surface oxidation present on the grip straps. Strawed parts show varying degrees of wear and thinning, with worn areas exhibiting a gray patina and scattered spots of age-related discoloration. Near mirror bore, exhibiting a couple of small spots of what appears to be pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing, as well as some scattered marks to the diamonds from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. A very nice and attractive example of an earlier production Baby Nambu. (24-4104/MLW). CURIO. $3,000-4,000.
