SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 1936v. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1944. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "byf/ 44", and the S#, with Mauser Eagle/WaA135 proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 8-rd., marked with a Walther Eagle/359 proof on the spine. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting a few spots of light to mild wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, some light edge wear, as well as some scattered flecks of light surface oxidation and pitting overall. Front grip strap exhibits areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent mild to moderate degrees of pitting and a few spots of dark pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Safety lever decocker functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
