SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 305L. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther in 1944. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by the S#, as well as Walther's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "ac 44", with 2 Walther Eagle/359 proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Left side of frame is marked with a Walther Eagle/359 proof. Underside of bbl. lug is marked "fnh" (indicating 1 of only 8,000 bbls. mfg. by Bomische Waffenfabriken Prague's Strakonice plant delivered to Walther in 1944), with a Prague Strakonice Eagle/WaA76 marked on the left. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 blued steel mag. marked with a Mauser Eagle/135 proof on the spine. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light edge wear, with some scattered spots of light surface oxidation present on the firing pin / indicator cover. Front grip strap exhibits wear and thinning that has faded to a gray patina, as well as some spots of light surface oxidation. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips are very good, showing some superficial handling marks overall, with some small chips present along the edges of the grooves on the right panel. (25-5627/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,100.
