SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5228L. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Walther in 1944. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by the S#, and "ac 44", with Walther Eagle/359 acceptance proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Underside of the bbl. lug is marked "fnh", with an Eagle/WaA76 proof on the left, indicating mfg. by Bomische Waffenwerke Brunn. Metal components exhibit a dull blue military finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved dark brown bakelite grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. mag., marked with a Walther Eagle/359 proof on the spine. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal dull blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, as well as some spots of light to mild thinning overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Safety lever decocker functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show a few superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise are very good overall. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-349/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
