TYPE 14 "LAST DITCH" SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 64954. Bbl. 5 4/8". Series II Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Toriimatsu arsenal in 1944. The left side of the frame is marked Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the Nagoya / Toriimatsu arsenal insignia, Series II marking, and the S# above the Showa date code "19.12" (1944, December). Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight with integral square notch rear sight on frame. Large pattern trigger guard with knurled cocking knob. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, trigger, mag. latch, bbl./bbl. extension, locking block, bolt, cocking knob, as well as the grips. MAGS: 1 blued non-matching 8-rd. with aluminum plug. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unrelated Smith & Wesson box. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear, a few areas of light thinning, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation/pitting. Grip straps show consistent light to mild wear and thinning fading to gray and brown patinas. Very bright bore, exhibiting small scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, with the usual dragline present on the left panel from the safety lever. (25-4571/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
