"19.3" DATE, TYPE 14 NAMBU SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 23204. Bbl. 4 9/16". Series II Type 14 Nambu mfg. at Nagoya's Toriimatsu arsenal in 1944. Left side of the frame exhibits Kanji characters at the "SAFE" and "FIRE" positions, followed by a series of Kanji characters denoting the model designation. Right side of the frame is marked with the Nagoya arsenal insignia, followed by the Series II symbol and the S# above the Showa date code "19.3" (1944, March). Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall, save for on the bolt and locking block, which are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed frame notched rear sight. Large pattern trigger guard with knurled cocking knob. All serialized parts are matching, to include the frame, trigger guard, trigger, mag. release button, bbl. / bbl. extension, locking block, bolt, cocking piece, as well as the grips. MAGS: x1 non-matching (S#: 266) 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: article / disassembly instructions by E.J. Hoffschmidt, as well as a H. Whitney Mcmillan / Luger Armory sales pamphlet. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear, some superficial handling marks, as well as the usual dragline at the safety lever. Grips straps show some light thinning. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are very good, exhibiting few minor superficial handling marks. A very nice and attractive example of a Toriimatsu Series II Type 14 Nambu. (26-2421/MLW). CURIO. $500-750.
