NATIONAL MATCH SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 45 ACP. S# C198719. Bbl. 5". Model 1911A1 Government Model National Match semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Colt in 1939. Left side of the slide is marked with Colt's mfg. and patent information, with "NATIONAL MATCH COLT", followed by "AUTOMATIC/ CALIBRE.45" and the Rampant Colt logo on the right. Left side of the bbl. is stamped "COLT 45 AUTO MATCH" above an encircled "M.B." proof on the lug. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the chamber area of the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth Mother of Pearl grips. Standard half-moon blade front sight and dovetailed square notch rear sight. MAGS: 1 dual-tone 7-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating: "Serial Number: C198719/ Caliber: .45/c/ Barrel Length: 5"/ Finish: Blue/ Type of Stocks: Not Listed/ Special Features: Furnished with a new safety device./ Sold To: G. This pistol is also accompanied by notes indicating "G. Presson" as "Guy Elmo Presson" (1889-1973), whom was first appointed as City Marshal of Benkelman and was officially appointed as Night Marshal in April of 1938, before being re-appointed as City Marshal in May of 1939. The notes further detail significant events in Presson's life, ranging from 1915-1955. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting scattered superficial handling marks, light to mild edge wear, and areas of wear fading to gray patina on the forward edges of the frame. Grip straps show mild wear and thinning fading to gray. Bore shows consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics.
