SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 90703. Bbl. 4 5/8". Series I Type 14 Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Toriimatsu arsenal under Nagoya supervision in 1943. The left side of the frame is marked with Kanji characters denoting the model designation, with the right side exhibiting the Nagoya arsenal insignia, followed by the Series I "Iroha" symbol and the S# above the Showa date code "18.9", indicating mfg. in September of 1943. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips. Nearly all numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, mag. release button, bbl./bbl. extension, bolt, locking block, firing pin, firing pin extension, cocking piece, as well as the grips. Mag. is mismatched (#662). MAGS: one 8-rd. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some scattered superficial handling marks, some spots of light surface oxidation, as well as a large area of deep oxidation and pitting that is present on the underside of the bbl. toward and at the muzzle. Mirror bore, exhibiting an area of oxidation/pitting stemming from the muzzle crown. Grips show a few superficial marks from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Right grip panel exhibits a fair-sized impression but is otherwise fine. An attractive example of a Toriimatsu Series I Type 14 Nambu pistol. (24-5986/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
