KENTUCKY RIFLE. Cal. 60. NSN. The 40 1/4" slightly swamped octagon barrel is fitted with one standing leaf rear and German silver blade front sights. Lock of 1760's style with rounded and beaded plate with long tail has serpentine cock, semi waterproof pan, bridled friction frizzen and feather spring with flame finial. Stock of dark finished fiddle figured maple has raised beavertail around barrel tang, traditional right hand cheekpiece and is brass mounted. Buttplate has steeple type top tang, trigger guard has husk type finial and loop to grip. Long sideplate is chamfered. A sliding wooden patchbox cover is on right side of butt. Stock is pinned to barrel. Hickory ramrod mounts through two octagonal pipes and matching thimble. CONDITION: fine as artificially aged. Barrel and lock showing overall brown patina, brass nicely toned. Stock shows a number of minor marks in its original finish. Bore is very good to fine, lightly rusted. Lock is also fine. Consignor states that this rifle was used by a reenactor in the filming of "The Patriot" movie. (01-23003/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
