GRADE SUPERPOSED GAME GUN ENGRAVED BY GINO CARGNEL. Cal. 20 Ga., 3". S# 29485V3. The 28" barrels with narrow matted ventilated rib have St. Louis & Montreal addresses on left side of top barrel along with "MADE IN BELGIUM". Right side has steel, gauge and patent info. Barrels are marked for modified and full chokes. Acanthus scroll engraving is at breech ends. Blued small size Browning O/U action features selective gold plated trigger. Action is engraved in usual Midas style, as originated by noted engraver Louis Vrancken, with full coverage, large open shaded acanthus scroll surrounding semi-relief gold inlaid game birds within swept and scrolled gold lines. A trio of pheasant fly into open meadow on left side, and three ducks erupt from bushes and fly over a pond on right. A quail flies across bottom of action. Engraver's signature "G. CARGNEL" is at bottom right of pheasant scene. Trigger guard has usual vacant shield on bow. Strikingly marbled and lightly figured flesh toned European walnut long tang, round knob buttstock measures 14 3/8" over hard rubber Browning buttplate. Usual fancy pattern closely spaced checkering wraps over top of grip. Field type forend matches well and is captive on barrels with usual Browning latch. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: U .613. O .611. RESTRICTION U .020 (mod). O .032 (full). Wall thickness U .042. O .038. STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 11/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14 3/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 10 oz. CONDITION: fine as restored. Barrels and action retaining nearly all good quality reblue with a hint of subsquent silvering on thumb piece and sharp edges. Stocks appear to be new factory replacements and have one or two fairly deep dents and light scratches, most notabley a 1" fairly deep scratch on left side of buttstock and a 3/4" x 3/8" dent in grip checkering to the left of top tang. Bores are bright and shiny, action is tight, mechanically good. (22-5842/MGM). CURIO. $8,000-13,000.
