GRADE SIDELOCK GAME GUN. Cal. 20 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 64701 (CA 1899). The 30" dovetailed shoe lump barrels fitted with matted game rib are gold inlaid with maker's name and address along with engraved Krupp steel information on tops. Sides are stamped with patent numbers for Germany, England and America. Gold lines are around breech ends. Barrel flats are stamped with Imperial German proofs for 20 Ga. and with dual crowns. Sidelock top lever action features non automatic safety, dolls head third fastener, bushed strikers, clock hand cocking indicators and double triggers (front "set"). Action is engraved with near full coverage very delicately cut open scrolling acanthus which surrounds the portrait of a chamois on trigger plate. "PRIMUS" is in gold in front of trigger plate. Sidelocks have more acanthus surrounding game scenes. A doe and fawn are on left and two running hares are on right. "Sauer" is in gold at the front of each lockplate. Trigger guard has scene of flying ducks on bow. Replacement round knob buttstock of finely marbled European walnut measures 14 1/2" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Splinter forend with original wood has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .635". R .624". Restriction: L .018" (mod). R .003" (IC). Wall thickness: L .027". R .029". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/8". DAC: 1 3/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14 1/2". WEIGHT: 5 lb. 14 oz. CONDITION: very fine as completely refurbished retaining nearly all custom finishes on wood and metal. Checkering on forend recut to match buttstock. Bores are shiny with considerable pitting mostly in left barrel. Action is tight, barrels on face, mechanically good. (01-23341/MGM).
