SHEATH & KNIFE. Made from harness leather, belt is 50” long with 120 tacks, sheath is 11” x 3.5”, “Corsan & Co. / Sheffield” marked bone gripped skinner shows long use. This knife & sheath from the Floyd Ritter collection is pictured on page 3 of John Baldwin’s 1997 text “EARLY KNIVES & BEADED SCABBARDS OF THE AMERICAN FRONTIER” (belt not shown). CONDITION: very good overall, several tacks missing, roller buckle on belt has dark iron patina with pitting, bone grip has heavy patina, heavily sharpened for continued use, makers mark mostly discernible. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18369/JS). $800-1,200.
