This carving is in a style that may be of Northwest Native American origin. It could be termed a totem but is of horizontal orientation. From back to front figures appear to represent a bird of prey, a man, a woman, a wolf, a frog, a woman & a bear cub. The material may be carved slate or argillite. The figures are certainly carved in a Northwest American style. This carving has not been dated by an expert in Native American culture through scientific means. Carving measures approx. 9” x 5” at its tallest point. Figures are well articulated & rest easily on a flat surface. CONDITION: carving is a bit dirty & shows very light overall wear.
