POCKET PISTOL BY LEACH OF CHELMSFORD. Cal. 44. NSN. Blued turnoff smooth bore bbls. have stars at muzzles for wrench. Pivoting breech stamped with Birmingham proofs. Steel boxlock action with tall hammer having stylized dolphin head, has sliding safety at rear. Action and hammer are engraved with open acanthus within geometric borders. "LEACH" is engraved on ribbon on left side of action. "CHELMSFORD" is on right (working 1839-69). Folding trigger extends when pistol is cocked. Walnut bag grip is near fully checkered and has silver oval at top rear. CONDITION: very good. Bbl. with old temper reblue. Action is mostly silver to gray patina. Grip with most of its original oil finish, shows little wear. Bores are shiny. Mechanically good. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Kenneth Horn (Grandson of JC Higgins). (01-20620/MGM).
