SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 02420. Bbl. 5". Interdynamic of Sweden originally manufactured the KG-9 in its semi-auto configuration as a simple blowback operated, open bolt design. Following the 1982 BATF ruling outlawing open bolt semi-auto firearms, they were redesigned as a striker-fired, closed bolt system and designated the KG-99. The U.S.-based branch located in Miami, FL, eventually changed the company name to Intratec, where they later marketed it as the Tec-9, later changing to the DC-9. Following the Federal knee-jerk reactionary assault weapons ban, changes were made to comply, such as mfg. the bbl. w/out threads at the bore, where it was re-branded once again as the AB-10 ("AB" is After Ban). This example is the original KG-9. With a polymer frame & tubular upper receiver extended to the front as a ventilated bbl. shroud. It was generally regarded as heavy and awkward in its configuration as a semi-automatic pistol, though it gained popularity largely due to the media-induced disinformation and hyperbole combined with it being a favorite "boogeyman" of the anti-gun groups simply due to its aesthetics. Fixed sights are permanently attached to the receiver. The safety is built into the charging handle, which engages into a slot cut at approx. 11 o'clock in the tubular receiver. It is engaged by rotating the bolt so that the safety coincides with the safety slot. Parkerized matte black finish on exposed metal surfaces. Polymer receiver is injection-molded black in color. Mag. release is located below the trigger to the rear of the mag. well. MAGS: 1 factory, 32 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original factory cardboard box, black nylon sling, and original owner's manual. CONDITION: all outward aspects indicate this gun has spent its lifetime in the original box without being used very much. The sling has never been assembled. on the firearm. The original finish is complete and consistent, with none of the typical thinning or marks indicating use. Bright bore with strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Terrance McCarty. (24-287/JZ). MODERN. $1,200-1,800.
