BY P. KOCKLER. Cal. 45 rifled over 68 smoothbore. NSN. Overall length 48". Bbls. 31 3/4" rnd. This is a very late percussion O/U gun w/ back action locks. Gun is completely silver mounted. The buttplate inlays, ramrod ferrules & trigger guard are all silver, as opposed to the typical brass. The stock is curly maple w/ a silver cap box. Cheekpiece has silver elk inlay. The gun was made by P. Kockler (Cockler) (1870-1880), Lewisburg, PA, so stamped on bbl. Kockler learned his trade from F. Beerstecher. CONDITION: clean & original throughout.
