WITH DISPLAY CASE. 1) Cal. 72 Smoothbore. NSN. Bbl. 9 1/16". Flintlock naval pistol produced in Belgium or the Netherlands by an unknown mfg., likely circa. 1815. Bbl. is marked with a Crown/B proof on the left side of the breech, with a "G" proof marked on the right. Butt of pommel cap is marked with a Crown/D proof. 1-piece plain wood stock with brass furniture consisting of the pommel cap, trigger guard, rectangular bbl. wedge escutcheon, and nose cap. Center of pommel cap (where the lanyard ring is typically mounted) is fitted with a plate marked "1". Frizzen / pan screw and frizzen spring screw appear to be older replacements. CONDITION: iron components have faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting striations from prior cleaning, scattered spots and patches of light to mild pitting (on bbl.), as well as several dings and impressions. Brass has been cleaned at one time, having since acquired patches of brown patina. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with a crack (and chip) at the left side of the lockplate, a small crack on the right side of the lockplate, as well as 5 cracks along the edges of the bbl. 2) Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 8 5/8". Flintlock naval pistol produced in Belgium or the Netherlands by an unknown mfg., likely circa. 1815. Lockplate is marked with an indiscernible proof, with a Crown/R proof marked on the top left side of the bbl. towards the breech. Plain wood stock exhibits a large repair at the forearm area, and features brass furniture consisting of a brass pommel cap, trigger guard, octagonal bbl. wedge escutcheon, and nose cap. Stock has been sanded and refinished at one time. Center of pommel cap (where the lanyard ring is typically mounted) is fitted with a plate marked "2". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: antique wood case, featuring a leather lined interior. Case contains a wood ramrod, brass key, and 23 lead ball projectiles. CONDITION: lockplate has faded to a mottled gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of light to mild pitting. Bbl. has been cleaned, exhibiting striations, scattered spots and patches of mild pitting, as well as some superficial handling marks and dings. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with some chipping present around the lockplate, as well as several cracks. Case shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with several large repaired cracks present on the lid. Leather interior shows light to mild crazing overall. (01-28857/MLW).
