BY ADAMS. Cal. 68. NSN. The slightly tapered round bbls. w/ out patent breeches are stamped w/ Birmingham proofs. Back spring percussion locks w/ some open scroll engraving, are engraved "ADAMS" (most likely one of many Johns working in Birmingham in the early 19th century). European walnut stocks w/ bag grips extend to muzzles & attach to bbls. w/ single captive side bolts w/ out escutcheons. Pistols are mounted w/ iron trigger guards w/ simple pineapple type finials & iron thimbles. Ramrods mount through beaded pipes. One ebony ramrod w/ silver tip & worm on tail is present. CONDITION: good. All metal parts are dark brown patina. Stocks have most of their original oil finish w/ a number of marks. One pistol is cracked through at wrist. Bores are lightly pitted. Lock of one pistol is operable, the other will not hold at full cock. Consignor's tags are marked "Chief Godfrey Pair"?? (01-20395/MGM). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
