FRAME SPUR TRIGGER DA REVOLVERS. Both cals. 38 CF. Bbls. 3 1/2", round with ribs and pinned blade semi-circular front sights. Five-shot scoop-fluted cyls. Full nickel finishes. 2-Piece ivory grips. Bbls. rotate to the right and slide forward with the cylinders to allow loading. Estimated quantity of several thousand manufactured in the late 1870s and 1880s. 1) S# 3917. The factory engraving features a songbird on the left sideplate. The receiver's sides have generous coverage of foliate spray with geometric-shaped highlights. Cyl. as well as the bbl. lug and rib have punch-dot scroll ornamentation. The sides of the bbl. are ornamented with diamond and scroll punch dot engraving. CONDITION: very good, retaining over 80% nickel finish. Grips show age-related shrinkage and yellowing. The right panel has a large chip at the toe. Good mechanics. The lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-24299/DS). 2) S# 1191. Hand-engraved with a songbird on the right sideplate. The balance of the receiver has sprays of foliate engraving with an ornate punch dot and circularly designed borders. Bbl. and cyl. have floral engraving with punch-dot scroll highlights. CONDITION: fine, retaining over 90% nickel finish. Very good ivory grips have acquired an aged yellow color on the left panel. Sound action. Bore has good rifling, showing very light pitting.
