SERIAL NUMBERS FROM BASEBALL GREAT TED WILLIAMS. 1) WINCHESTER 94 U.S. BICENTENNIAL LEVER ACTION CARBINE. Cal. 30-30. S# USA9. Bbl. 20" carbine style with blade front sight and sporting rear sight. Full length mag. Antique silver finished receiver featuring "76" circled by 13 stars on the right side with American eagle on the left side. Both sides have ornate borders. Top tang is marked "MODEL 1894/ WINCHESTER". Long wood band fastened forearm and straight grip stock of satin finish XXX fancy American black walnut with cut checkering and steel carbine buttplate. Right side features a 1 1/2" diameter commemorative medallion featuring the Winchester horse and rider. Mfg. in 1976. S# range USA1-USA19999. CONDITION: near excellent retaining over 98% original wood and metal finish. Left side of receiver shows small spots of tarnishing. Bright near excellent bore. (25-1871/DS). 2) WINCHESTER MODEL 94 WELLS FARGO COMMEMORATIVE LEVER ACTION CARBINE. Cal. 30-30. S# WFC9. Bbl. 20" carbine style with blade front sight and sporting rear sight. Full length tubular mag. Antique silver finished receiver, right side features Wells Fargo inscription with a frontier town scene bracketed by "1852" and "1977" dates. Left side shows a stagecoach scene. Both sides have wide scroll borders. Top tang is marked "MODEL 1894/ WINCHESTER". Band fastened long wood forearm and straight grip stock of black walnut with attractive fiddle grain. Features include cut checkering, steel carbine buttplate, with 1 1/2" diameter Wells Fargo & Co. stagecoach scene medallion on right side. Mfg. in 1997. S# range WFC1-WFC19999. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter signed by Ted Williams stating "Sold two Mod 94/ Commemorative/ Winchesters to/ Russell (last name illegible)/ good luck/ (TED WILLIAMS SIGNATURE)/ 1984/ Well Fargo & Co Ser.# W.F.C. 9/ Bicentennial Ser.# USA 9". Factory hang tag. Hang tag shows age related oil darkened staining. CONDITION: near excellent retaining over 98% metal finish showing a spot of staining on the mag. tube. Very good original wood finish shows a few small scratches and marks. Bright near excellent bore. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (25-1872/DS). BOTH CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
