"36 Calibers of the Colt Single Action Army" by David M. Brown lists on page 20, that 1,150 standard revolvers were manufactured in this caliber. Bbl. 5 1/2" w/ address "COLT'S PTFA MFG Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14, PALL MALL, LONDON". Six shot fluted cyl. Blue & case colored finish. 1 piece walnut grips. Bottom of right panel is stamped "3". Cyl. has British proof marks. Frame, grip straps & bbl. have matching S#s. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from Colt Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, Inc. detailing the following information, "Calibre .455 / Barrel Length 5 1/2" / Finish Blue / Type of Stocks Not Listed / Sold & shipped to: Colt London Agency, / Address London, England. / Date of Shipment August 15, 1883 / Number of Same Type Guns in Shipment. Eighty-seven". CONDITION: fine. Bbl., ejector housing, cyl. & grip straps retain over 60% blue showing areas of fading & carry wear w/ scattered spots of light corrosion. Frame & sides of hammer have over 50% nicely visible case colors showing carry wear & spots of darkened appearance. Grips have an added coat of finish over light wear & handling marks. Sound action.
