Cal. 10 ga. 2 7/8". S# 42131. Bbls. 30" w/ fixed Full & Full chokes. Rib is marked "BERNARD STEEL". Bbls. have a browned finish showing good damascus pattern. Steel front bead. Top lever hammer action w/ sculpted bolsters. Water tables of the bbl. & frame have clear "B" quality markings & "4" grade markings, showing one grade higher than listed in the Parker Gun Collector's Association letter. Action has B grade factory engraving featuring pointing dogs on the lockplates. Balance of action has delicate arabesque scroll engraving w/ fancy borders. Double triggers. Extractors. Steel tipped splinter forearm & hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of fancy European walnut, having drop points & B grade hand checkering. Top of wrist has German silver shield engraved w/ overlaid initials "CAW". LOP: 14 1/4" to a checkered butt w/ engraved skeleton steel buttplate. DAC: 1 15/16". WEIGHT: 9 lbs, 1.4 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: The Parker Gun Collector's Association Inc. letter, "Parker shotgun, serial number 42131, was ordered by Ducharme Fletcher & Co. of Detroit, MI on February 1, 1886 and shipped on June 19, 1886. According to Parker Bros. Order Book No. 19, it was a Quality C, Top Action Hammer Gun, 10-gauge. It featured Bernard steel barrels with a length of 30 inches. / The price was $150.00. / According to Parker Bros. Stock Book No. 15, the stock configuration was a capped pistol grip and its specifications were: Length of Pull: 14 1/4", Drop at Heel: 2 5/8", Weight: 9 pounds and 3 ounces. The chokes were patterned RH full and LH full. / According to Parker Bros. Order Book No. 25, the gun was returned on August 16, 1889 by the Fletcher Jenks Co. of Detroit, MI to take out dents, rebrown, clean action, and install a new top lever spring. The price was $5.00.". CONDITION: bbls. retain 40% thinning browned finish showing a good damascus pattern. Action retains lightly faded case colors on lockplates & protected areas w/ balance of action having faded to gray. Stock & forearm have moderately worn finish & checkering, showing scratches, marks & small dents. Sound mechanics, top lever sits slightly left of center. Bore shows areas of light pitting.
