SUBORDINATE’S DAGGER. Overall length 14 3/8". Plain blade is marked on the reverse "PAUL WEYERSBERG & CO (logo) SOLINGEN". Nickel silver cross guard featuring a large party eagle. Slightly ovoid pommel with medial band. Polished wood grip with black enamel and silver Luftschutz insignia. Black enameled scabbard with plated mounts and original hanger attached. CONDITION: blade shows some scabbard wear and very minor light staining. Mounts are undamaged. Grip shows light to moderate wear with a small chip on one arm of the party symbol and some loss of plating to the star. Scabbard shows very minor losses to the finish. Hanger shows moderate wear with one small break starting. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18222/BF). $1,400-1,800.
