Left side is engraved "WHAT CHEER MID RANGE". Right side is engraved "PEABODY-MARTINI" patents. Action has straight line borders w/ highlights of scroll engraving. Steel tipped forearm & straight grip walnut stock of hand checkering. LOP: 14" to crescent steel buttplate. WEIGHT: 8 lbs, 15.6 ozs. Estimated quantity of a few thousand of all types mfg. by the Providence Tool Co., 1860s-1880s. CONDITION: fine. Bbl. retains over 80% lightly faded blue showing scattered areas of corrosion. Action retains 80% lightly faded case colors. Lightly worn original wood finish shows dents & marks. Bore has a slightly darkened appearance retaining strong rifling.
