PISTOL. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 16124. Bbl. 4 1/2". Blade front sight. Square notch rear sight. Rear right of frame has Tokyo arsenal symbol & serial. Rear right of frame has "5.10" date denoting May, 1930 mfg. Matching numbers on cocking piece, bolt, locking block & trigger guard. Balance of other parts appear unnumbered. Blued finish w/ strawed trigger. Grooved Asian hardwood grips. MAGS: 1-8 rd. numbered "808". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from consignor stating that this pistol was brought back by his father Albert Donald Murray. Per the letter Murray enlisted in the USMC after Pearl Harbor. Murray was at first assigned to the Marine Raiders but dislocated his shoulder during bayonet practice & was hospitalized. After being released from the hospital Murray was assigned to the 5th Marine Regiment of the 1st Marine Division. Murray would fight in many famous Pacific battles including Guadalcanal, New Guinea & Peleliu where this pistol was captured. Murray was awarded several decorations including the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal w/ four service stars. Also included are copies of Murray's honorable discharge records & a New Jersey pistol registration form numbered matching to gun. CONDITION: grips show wear from safety turning, a couple light chips, some dings & handling wear. Metal has an original blue finish that is fading to brown w/ a two "Kill notches" at rear left of frame, overall oxidation & some scattered pitting. Bore shows scattered oxidation & some light pitting but good rifling. (24-1458/MJC). CURIO. $1000-1500.
