ELIAS SPECHT. 44 Cal. rifle 36 1/2" bbl. signed "E.Specht". The curly maple stocked rifle has 22 silver inlays & a 4 piece engraved patchbox w/ 4 piercings Fancy 5 1/4" brass saddle plate. Elias Specht worked in Beaver Township & was born in 1820; he was the son of Adam Specht. Elias died in 1890. CONDITION: there is a bad break in the stock 12" from the muzzle. The bbl. was cut from the rear about 5". The entire 5 3/4" lock panel from the bbl. tang to the trigger guard has been replaced. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19656/RG.)
