Cal. 40. NSN. Unmarked 41 1/2" octagon bbl. Blade front sight w/ fixed V notch rear sight. Bolster style percussion conversion. Converted engraved trade lock is marked “JAS. GOLCHER/WARRANTED”. Double set triggers. Pin fastened full length walnut stock w/ Roman nose. Segmented rectangular lid patchbox. Other brass fittings include crescent buttplate, toe plate, finger curl trigger guard, old man in the moon side plate, thimble, 2 faceted pipes & nose cap. German silver ornamentation includes old man in the moon cheek piece plate, oval wrist plate w/ 3 sets of ovals on the forearm. Replacement hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to a mottled brown w/ scattered pitting becoming heavier in breech area. Stock has worn aged darkened appearance w/ scratches & marks. Area above lock shows wood erosion. Forearm has chips around pin holes w/ cracks & chips along bbl. channel. Lock & trigger are not functioning properly. Hammer spur has freshly cut grooves.
