This inscribed forged tomahawk w/ brass bowl is pictured on page 129 Indian Tomahawks by Hartzler & Knowles. 8" x 3.25" head, 23" haft w/ pewter mouthpiece. One side of blade as inset engraved silver diamond below engraved “1787” opposite side has an inset knife engraved “L. Honour”. CONDITION: very good overall, haft is like new, iron has mottled gray patina w/ pitting. The vast majority of pipe tomahawks in the Hartzler book are original to the 18th & 19th century, several in our opinion including this one are contemporary & of 20th century manufacture. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of John "Tim" Breth Jr. (02-13821-1/JS). $800-1,200.
