SIGHTING PLANE SXS SHOTGUN WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# S19824 (1947). The 26" London steel barrels fitted with raised matted rib set with two white beads have all correct markings on flats. Case hardened feather weight action with tall fences to accomodate high rib features automatic safety and double triggers (factory letter indicates that gun was made with single selective trigger so these triggers are a replacement. Color and finish of trigger plate do not match action.). Action is engraved in usual Ideal style with stylized large acanthus on lockplates and some foliate engraving on frame. Capped pistol grip buttstock of crotch figured American walnut measures 13 7/8" over red white line pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend has "J" spring release with secondary latch in oval escutcheon. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .736. R .735. Restriction: L .030 (Full). R .014 (Mod). Wall thickness: L .033. R .035. STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2". DAC: 1 1/2". CAST: neutral. LOP: 13 7/8". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 3 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Factory letter and 2 sections of a BGI cleaning rod. CONDITION: good to very fine with some alterations. Barrels retaining about 85% original blue. There are two drilled and tapped holes in top rib with plug screws. Action and locks retaining over 80% original color with some silvering and brown specks. Trigger plate replaced along with original single trigger. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish which shows attic burn and some chipping to finish and deep scratches. A coat of oil has been added. Checkering is lightly worn. Bores are bright and shiny. Ejectors are in time. (23-2520/MGM). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
