IN FINE ORIGINAL CONDITION. Cal. 8 Ga. NSN. The 16" barrel has pivoting breech block clearly stamped "L.T. SNOW" "THE "STRONG" CANNON" "-M'F'R-" eagle logo, "NEW HAVEN CONN." "U.S.A." . Breech block has late style locking lug with plunger release and lanyard type firing mechanism. Breech area of barrel has sliding extractor. Barrel is held in well made mahogany naval type carriage with four lignumvitae wheels with leather tires. Carriage also has all high quality bronze mounts including trunnion ends and rigging eyes. Faucet type elevation screw is also present. CONDITION: fine. Markings are exceptionally strong and clear. Bronze with old cleaning is toned to golden mustard. Carriage retains over 90% original varnish which shows attic burn and some dings and scratches. Wheels have some minor checks. Mechanism is in working order with the exception that lanyard is missing and needs replacement for cannon to be fired. (02-17953/MGM). $4,000-6,000.
