RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 413416. Bbl. 24". Model 70 bolt action target rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1957. The left side of the heavy tapered rnd. bbl. is marked with Winchester's mfg. information, followed by the model and cal. designations. Left side of the receiver is marked with the Winchester trademark logo, with the S# marked on the right side of the chamber. Receiver and bolt knob exhibit a matte blue finish, with the bbl. exhibiting a dull gray finish. Bolt body is polished in-the-white, with the extractor, bolt shroud, trigger guard, and hinged floorplate exhibiting a polished blue finish. 1-piece plain wood pistol grip buttstock features a steel hand stop rail on the underside of the forearm and a blued checkered steel buttplate. Underside of forearm and toeline of buttstock feature sling swivels, currently fitted with a period brown leather sling. Bbl. features 2 sight mount bases, with the receiver featuring a sight mount base over the chamber. Receiver bridge is drilled and tapped with 2 plug screws. Left side of the receiver is fitted with a sight mount. Bolt matches the receiver via the full S#, which is electro-penciled on the underside of the body. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild wear, with scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Bolt knob has primarily faded to a gray patina. Bbl. exhibits some scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of age related discoloration. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. (26-183/MLW).
