MACHINE GUN. U.S. PROPERTY MARKED. Cal. 30-06. S# 2091. Bbl. 24". The M37 is an evolution of the Browning Machine Gun introduced in the late 1940's as a tank gun. It was designed to have the ability to be fed from both the left side & right side through the use of duel slots on the bolt, similar to the Browning 50 caliber M2. At first glance it might be mistaken for a Model 1919 A6, due to the carry handle located forward of the front trunnion & the familiar ventilated barrel shroud. Closer inspection will reveal the rear mounted cocking handle in place of the typical stubby handle that is typically located in the center of the receiver. Elevation adjustable rear peep sight, marked from 300 yards to 1500 yards. Unprotected post front sight. Right sideplate markings include serial number "2091 / U.S. INSP. EB / GUN, MACHINE, CAL. 30. M37 / US PROPERTY / MFD. BY ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL". Parkerized finish on all exposed metal parts. BATF Paperwork states manufacturer as "Saco / Lowell". MAGS: 1 new cloth belt. CONDITION: finish coverage complete & consistent. Factory markings clear & easy to read, many filled w/ white for ease in reading. Clean bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE (KEEPER). NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION.
