SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 56n. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger mfg. by Mauser in 1938 for the German Kriegsmarine. Top of the bbl. extension is marked with the 4-digit year of mfg. "1938", with Mauser Eagle/63 proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" code. Front grip strap is Kriegsmarine Ostsee marked "O.3648". Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with the extractor exhibiting a dark straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. Takedown lever, bbl. extension, and some other small parts appear to have been renumbered at one time to match. Hold-open latch is mismatched. Takedown lever spring is absent. MAGS: 1 non-matching blued 8-rd. mag. with aluminum bottom featuring a Nordsee "N2729X" marking. CONDITION: good, as refinished, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish overall, exhibiting softening to some markings, some superficial handling marks, some spots of surface oxidation, as well as scattered areas of light to mild pitting beneath the finish. Bright bore, as refinished, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting and scattered spots of dark pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing, as well as some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, with the left grip exhibiting some chipping at the top of the panel.
